A hardy, herbaceous, clump-forming perennial for moist to boggy soils and a sunny position. The stems and the ovate to oblong-lance-shaped leaves a re a lovely rich reddish-purple. Racemes, up to 35cm. long, bear large, tubular, two-lipped, bright scarlet-red flowers in summer. Height 90cm. Spread 30cm.
